# Codex

> Connect Geekflare MCP server to OpenAI Codex (CLI and IDE extension) for web search, scraping, screenshots, and website checks in your coding workflow.

[Codex](https://developers.openai.com/codex) is OpenAI's coding agent, available as a CLI and as an IDE extension. With the Geekflare MCP server connected, Codex can search the web, scrape pages, take screenshots, and run website checks as part of a task.

## Setup

Codex reads MCP servers from `~/.codex/config.toml`. Requires [Node.js](https://nodejs.org) installed locally. Add:

```toml theme={null}
[mcp_servers.geekflare]
command = "npx"
args = ["-y", "@geekflare/mcp"]
env = { API_KEY = "YOUR_API_KEY" }
```

Replace `YOUR_API_KEY` with your Geekflare API key. Restart Codex after saving.

## Add the Geekflare skill

Install the Geekflare agent skill so Codex knows when and how to use each Geekflare tool:

```bash theme={null}
npx skills add geekflare/geekflare-skills
```

See [Agent Skills](/mcp/agent-skills.md) for details.

## Usage Examples

Ask Codex naturally:

**Check a TLS certificate**

```
Use Geekflare to check the TLS certificate of example.com.
```

Codex should call the `tlsScan` tool.

**Scrape a webpage**

```
Scrape https://example.com and summarize the main content in bullet points.
```

**Search the web**

```
Search for the latest stable Python release.
```
