# Kiro

> Add Geekflare to Kiro as a power for web search, scraping, screenshots, and website checks with the Geekflare MCP server and skill.

[Kiro](https://kiro.dev) is an agentic IDE. Geekflare is available as a Kiro power, which bundles the Geekflare MCP server and the Geekflare skill so Kiro can search the web, scrape pages, take screenshots, and run website checks.

## Setup

Requires [Node.js](https://nodejs.org) 18+. The power runs the Geekflare MCP server locally with `npx @geekflare/mcp`.

**1. Open the Powers panel**

In Kiro, open the **Powers** panel.

**2. Import the power from GitHub**

Choose **Add Custom Power → Import power from GitHub**, and enter:

```
https://github.com/geekflare/geekflare-skills
```

Then click **Install**.

**3. Set your API key**

Set `GEEKFLARE_API_KEY` in your shell profile, then start Kiro from that shell so the power's MCP server picks it up.

```bash theme={null}
export GEEKFLARE_API_KEY="YOUR_API_KEY"
```

Replace `YOUR_API_KEY` with your Geekflare API key.

**4. Try the power**

Click **Try power**. The first time, approve Kiro's `kiro_powers` tool when asked. Choose **Trust** to skip the prompt next time.

## Usage Examples

Ask Kiro naturally:

**Check a website**

```
Check the site status of example.com.
```

**Scrape a webpage**

```
Scrape https://example.com and summarize the main content in bullet points.
```

**Search the web**

```
Search for the latest stable Python release.
```

See [Agent Skills](/mcp/agent-skills.md) for more about the skill the power includes.
